Should your surfaces be sealed ?
Surfaces should be sealed to protect them from damage, increase their durability, and protect their appearance
Surfaces that are not sealed are more likely to crack, spall, pit, and stain. Sealing prevents water from seeping into the surface pores, which can expand and crack most surfaces during enironmental cycles.
Most surfaces are porous and absorb water, which can lead to mold growth. Mold can break down most hard surfaces and create undesirable appeal.
Sealing preserves the appearance by preventing discoloration, stains, and mold. You can also use a tinted sealer to improve the your hard sufaces look.
Sealed surfaces are protected from a host of interior products but also compliment exterior surfaces from UV rays, deicing salt, oil leaks, and other contaminants
Sealing can help your product surface finish last longer
Types of Sealer's
There are two common types of sealers to choose from – film forming and penetrating, with each offering their own different benefits and each suitable for different applications. can be penetrating or topical.
Penetrating sealers are durable but don't change the surface appearance. Topical sealers form a film on any surface and can enhance the look of your surface by adding a matte to glossy finish while bringing out the color of any surface.
Sealers are made from a variety of materials, including acrylics, epoxies, polyurethanes, silanes, siloxanes, silicates and siliconates. Depending on the sealer and your surface, you may need to reseal your concrete. Todd Alan can provide advice on sealing and resealing.
